Dumi ó Dr. Abraham Dumisani Maraire ó was the principal importer of Shona musical culture into the United States in the 1970's and 80's. Until his death in November 1999, he continued to spread his culture throughout the world from
his home base at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare, where he headed the Dept. of African Languages and Literature.
